We commenced sourcing products for The House of Silk in 2003 by visiting factories in India & China. After seeing a large range of silk of different qualities we decided to do business with China and set up our foreign office in Shanghai in 2004.

We designed, built and launched our first silk website and have increased our product ranges year on year and even have our own exclusive products from The House of Silk label.

In February 2009, we moved to much larger offices in Anglesey, Wales that had a warehouse attached rather than two separate buildings in separate locations as we previously had – we also had space in the new building for our beautiful photography studio to photograph our silk products worn by one of our own models.

Since the middle of 2009 silk costs have been rising phenomenally, which is disappointing in these times of economic downturn. As a result of this we began looking to spread our interests in early 2010 and once again researched India as well as Thailand, Nepal & Vietnam. Following from this we have added our 50% silk / 50% viscose range from Vietnam. This range is made of hand woven fabric in smaller working groups. It retains many of the features of 100% silk whilst being much cheaper to purchase. We also added to our polyester satin range and continued to research goods from Vietnam and China.

2017 We moved to new premises in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.

2019 With increasing silk costs we have started to explore the possibilities of manufacturing silk in the UK!
